We usually follow the donor lead. If the donor/sponsor designated the
funds as a gift and no financial or programmatic reports are required, the
Office of University Advanement is responsible for the activity.

The Office of Research and the Office of University Advancement
coordinate requests to Foundations to be sure neither side of the
house is interfering with the other's initiatives. We work pretty
well together.
