ADMINISTRATOR POSITION AVAILABLE: GRANTS AND CONTRACTS ADMINISTRATOR LOCATION: HRCA Research and Training Institute Hebrew Rehabilitation Center for Aged 1200 Centre Street Boston, MA 02131-1097 DIRECT RESUME TO: Human Resources (at the Center) POSITION START DATE: As soon as possible for overlap RESEARCH ENVIRONMENT: The HRCA Research and Training Institute has a staff of 44 investigators, research associates and assistants, programmer analysts, nurse specialists, secretarial and clerical support staff, plus 2 Institute Research Co-Directors and 1 Managing Director. The research program, which is rapidly growing, is dedicated to: Maximizing the strength, vigor and physical well-being of frail elders; preserving memory and reasoning in old age; and improving quality of life and quality of care for elders across the entire spectrum of health care. The Hebrew Rehabilitation Center for Aged, in which the Institute is located, is an independent, non-profit, non-sectarian, 725-bed, long-term care facility, dedicated to care of the elderly, applied and clinical research which will benefit the aged, and teaching and training in geriatrics and gerontology. The Center is closely associated with the major universities and medical schools in the greater Boston area, and is home of the Harvard Geriatrics Fellowship program. RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as the Grants and Contracts Administrator for the HRCA Research and Training Institute under the direction of the Managing Director (Diane Gilbert). Prepares budgets for grants, contracts, agreements, and associated applications. Works with the Institute Directors in preparing the annual Institute budgets for personnel, supplies and capital equipment. Further develops and maintains a system for monitoring the flow of funds in terms of allocations and encumbrances. Works with Fiscal Services in tracking expenditures and reporting those expenditures against authorizations to Management and Principal Investigators. Conducts reconciliations. Manages the processing of invoices on a current basis. Prepares monthly effort reports. Works with Managing Director and Assistant to the Managing Director in assuring compliance with federal, state, local, non-governmental sponsor and institutional regulations and guidelines. Works with other institutions in the preparation and finalization of contracts and subcontracts. Produces monthly financial reports for the Directors and the Center Administration. Working with the Managing Director, develops systems where necessary to assure financial viability, integrity and compliance for the Institute's research efforts. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree. Minimum of 3 years as a grants/contracts administrator. CRA preferred. Working knowledge of Wordperfect or Microsoft in a Windows environment; lotus or excel; preferably a relational database; preferably the world wide web. Must be well-organized, flexible, have a great sense of humor, excellent communication skills, and work well with many different personalities who have varying levels of research experience. Must be familiar with federal regulations pertaining to grants and contracts administration. Must enjoy working in a demanding, fast-paced environment. SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
