Many thanks to all of you fellow research administrators who replied to my
query regarding reporting structure within your institution. The
overwhelming response is that Office's of Sponsored Research/Grants and
Contracts (offices that provide pre- and post-award services) report to the
VP/Provost for academic affairs or research. Out of 35 responses, 32
institutions have their research support/external funding arm on the
academic side of the organization, and only 3 show it under institutional
advancement or development. Again, thanks for the quick responses.
