The Sponsored Programs Office at our campus is planning on offering a
conference to the faculty.  (Thank you again to those who responded to a
previous question I had about this type of program at your
institutions.)

I've been meeting with a few deans to find out what the
needs/interests are of the faculty.  There is a common thread
beginning to take shape:  working with non-traditional sponsors and
encouraging collaborative efforts among different academic
departments.

Question:  have any of you initiated programs to encourage either of
these efforts.   What were they?  What was the response from faculty?
How were the programs structured?
