Historically One-Person Offices and Recent Personnel Additions
Barbara Gray 08 Apr 1996 10:56 EST
I'm looking for input from Directors who were, until the last year or two, a
one-person office and now have an assistant. If you have recently become a
two-person office, can you please tell me what kind of position you added, a
brief description of duties, the incumbent's general qualifications (highest
degree and experience level), and a ball-park salary. (Note that I'm
excluding clerical personnel and student assistants from my person counts).
I need this information to justify what I think is a fair salary for a
senior level grants administrator that I hope to hire soon. (Our human
resources office and higher administration tend to think everyone should
come in at the minimum of the grade ($28,000) in SC, regardless of their
experience!) Since this information is sensitive, please respond directly
to me, and not the list, at xxxxxx@cofc.edu. If you want a summary of the
information I receive, please indicate so in your response and I will share
it using states, rather than institution names, to provide maximum
confidentiality. Thanks in advance for the help.
