Administrative Coordinator
State and Local Policy program
Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs
University of Minnesota

The Administrative Coordinator reports to the Director of the State and
Local Policy Program and assists in managing its sponsored funds.  The
State and Local Policy Program is located in the Humphrey Institute of
Public Affairs, and conducts policy research in the areas of
transportation, regional economic development strategies, science and
technology, and government finance and productivity.  This new position has
resulted from growth of the program.  The Administrative Coordinator will
be responsible for overall administrative management.  Specific areas of
responsibility include:

-Monitor existing federal, state and local sponsored program deadlines and
reporting requirements.  Coordinate staff input and feedback for these
requirements.  Develop administrative procedures where necessary.

-Coordinate paper and electronic filing systems.

-Coordinate budget planning, development and administration.

-Coordinate budget/ account communication with Humphrey Institute budget
office, the University Office of Research and Technology Transfer
Administration and sponsoring agencies.

-Assist with writing program outcomes through technical and financial
reports.

-Assist with proposal writing for new initiatives and renewal of existing
agreements.

-Overall responsibility for database development.

-Overall responsibility for office management.

-Supervise one clerical staff person.

Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree required, Masters in business administration or related
field preferred.  Two years experience to include grants, fiscal and
project management.  Demonstrated effective oral and written communication.
 Experience writing reports and memoranda.  Ability to manage office
computer information systems including word processing, spreadsheet and
database.  Experience with federal and/or state grants.

Salary and Benefits:
This is an annually renewable academic administrative appointment of
50-100% time, which will be renewed based on availability of funding and
job performance.  Salary range $25,000 - $35,000 per year commensurate with
experience and qualifications.  Benefits include health, dental,
life/disability insurance, social security, faculty retirement after a
waiting period.
