Intramural Competitions and Faculty Titles -Reply

At University of Wisconsin-River Falls, we have a competition every
spring for very small faculty research grants. In the past, instructors (in
local parlance, teaching academic staff, i.e. non-tenure track) have
qualified for these awards and occasionally won them. This year our
administration is trying to draw clearer distinctions between tenured or
tenure-track faculty and teaching academic staff, and so we are
revisiting that issue. I argue on the side of inclusion, but it is yet to be
decided.
