Search Reopened Director of Sponsored Research The University of Central Florida invites applications and nominations for the position of irector of Sponsored Research. Enrolling more than 26,000 undergraduate and graduate students, UCF is a metropolitan research university in suburban Orlando, FL, one of the nation#s most dynamic metropolitan areas. Faculty in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences,Business Administration, Education, Engineering and Health and Public Affairs as well as the Institute for Simulation and Training, Center for Research and Education in Optics and Lasers, and the Florida Solar Energy Center were awarded $35 million in grants and contracts during FY 1995. The Director is responsible for administration and negotiation of a full range of grants and contracts with federal agencies and sponsors in both the public and private sector. This individual will be responsible for the overall management of the unit and for working effectively with faculty and administrators to achieve university research goals. The Director will also assist the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies in the administration of technology transfer and the University#s research corporation. Ideal candidates will have: a successful record of negotiating research funding from federal, state, and private sources; familiarity with federal and state regulations and compliance requirements related to university research; strong managerial, communication, and organizational skills; background in research administration in a university or an agency funding academic research; and Ph.D. or other advanced degree. Experience in promoting and managing the commercialization of intellectual property and in operating a not-for-profit research corporation affiliated with a university are also desirable. Minimum qualifications include: a Master#s degree or equivalent and a minimum of six years# relevant experience or a Bachelor#s degree and eight years of relevant experience. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
