How do your Foundations/Institutions coordinate resources in order to
maximize opportunities?  One goal of an institution may be to promote
research while a goal of the foundation is to promote fundraising for
operating support, philanthropy, etc.

The concern at our institution is the mixing of the two.  The foundation
may have acquired funds to support research activities.  Does this go on
at other institutions?  How is it managed?  Is there, at the very least
communication between the Grants Offices?

Please advise me as to your practices.
