 A-133 - Evaluation of the Audit Process

The panelists will review the process over the last three or four years and
describe how it has affected them from an individual point of view and from
their Institution's point of view( Change in Policies etc.).  Jim Kenney
will discuss the role of his office in the performance of the A-133 audit.
He will also explain the affect on staff, the cost to the Institution in
relation to having the audit done by external auditors.  He is going to
describe the amount of education at the Medical Center for the PIs and
administrators for monitoring controls both electronically and manually.
Joe Cohen of Coopers will provide information about the current A-133
situation from  a regulatory compliance practice point of view. and will
provide a look into the future regarding
A-133 changes and possible enforcement by the Federal Government concerning
on going findings which have not been corrected by the Institutions.  There
will be two Research Administrators that will give their institution's
perspective and experience concerning the evolution of the A-133 audit
process over the past four years.
