Hello friends, colleagues and fellow research administrators

I will be leaving the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research in
Cambridge Mass for a new exciting and challenging position and opportunity
with KPMG, Peat Marwick.  I will be working in the mid-west and located in
Chicago.

The 5 and one-half years at Whitehead Institute have been very rewarding
and fulfilling professionally.   It has allowed me to have opportunities to
be involved in the many facets of the Institute's financial and sponsored
program operations and has been a tremendous learning experience.

I will keep in touch with my friends and colleagues from New England and
look forward to meeting new colleagues and making new friends in the
Mid-West.

WHITEHEAD INSTITUTE for BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH

Director of Financial Operations and Sponsored Programs

If you have a solid background in administration of sponsored programs and
a good head for financial operations, this is an exciting opportunity to
expand your professional horizons at a world class independent research
institute with an operating budget in excess of $30 million.

In addition to managing the Office of Grants Administration and the Office
of Accounting, you would be the person most responsible for the Institute's
financial operations, analyzing operating data and recommending appropriate
action to contain net costs and further the Institute's financial goals.

Minimum requirements include:  full working knowledge of federal audit
process and Circulars A-133, A-110 and A-122/A-21; experience in preparing
and negotiating an indirect cost rate proposal; working knowledge of
automated financial systems; Bachelor's degree (MBA desirable); excellent
written and verbal communications skills; excellent management experience
and skills; eight years of directly related experience.  Must also be able
to work successfully in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
