My reference point is a central administration office at a Medical
School. The central administration intends to build a home page
which currently contains limited research administration information
and nothing related to the other central area offices. Our library
is currently supporting the research data, but as we enhance this
data and add other central administration offices, a few questions
have arisen:
1. Who will supply the technical support for the creation
and maintenance of the sites? ( I think it would be extremely
fun to maintain for our own office - but there is the issue
of processing 1500 grants a year and finding the spare time
to keep up the web site - or is it that easy?)
2. Who will monitor the quality of the information? (Possibly
Public Affairs office should be involved and scrutinize as
they would any other tool used to communicate information
about your institution - we're not talking about a local paper
here....)
Do any of you have policies at the university, school or even
department level on how your web site is to be handled?
Any comments would be appreciated.
