Re: Employees participating as research subjects

Many institutions feel trapped by the limitations of their payroll systems
and payroll procedures. Employees participating as research subjects, as
long as it does not conflict with their work schedule, should not be
considered double dipping. At my former place of employment, a private
Jesuit university in the northeast, we had many employees that performed
other functions and tasks for which they were compensated. However when
many of these additional payments began to hit the payroll system, the same
questions arose and usually because of the inadequacy of a system. My
motto is people make decisions not systems.
