The Pediatric Oncology Group is a National Cancer Institute funded 117-institution Group of Pediatric Cancer Treatment programs headquartered in offsite space at Northwestern University's Lurie Cancer Center, in the heart of Chicago. Please be prepared to forward a c.v. or job resume immediately after calling. JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Group Administrator JOB CODE: Exempt Supervised by: Vita J. Land, MD, MBA Supervises: All non-academic staff members on the Pediatric Oncology Group (POG) PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Administrative and financial management of grants, contracts and subcontracts for the POG, preparation of NIH grants and contracts, grant reporting, and progress reports. Oversight and/or actual fiscal management of all POG accounts, including management of expenditures, allocating incoming funds, and tracking of all accounts on the University accounting system and within the office. Oversight and coordination of biannual Group meetings and other meetings as necessary. This includes negotiating hotel contracts, managing catering, audio-visual and other hotel departments, and overseeing staff functions for registration, meeting agendas, guest speakers, travel requests, etc. Supervise personnel within the office. Respond to and originate various administrative correspondence. Serve as liaison with the POG Statistical Office, POG Administrative Committees, NU Cancer Center and other NU departments. Develop and revise reference manuals for distribution to the Group. Oversee Group membership procedures. Miscellaneous tasks as necessary. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Good rapport with physicians and other health professionals, experience in medical field, supervisory skills, ability to write reports, prepare grant applications, organize and coordinate meetings and multiple tasks, ability to manage all accounting functions of grants and contracts for the Group. Must be well-organized and able to work under stress and deadlines. Able to exercise discretion, diplomacy, and independent judgment in decision-making processes. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Masters degree preferred. Five years experience in medical/administrative field with supervisory experience. Broad experience in IBM compatible computer systems required. Accounting/finance management experience is preferred and a plus. ************************************* Philip V.
