GRANT ADMINISTRATOR Office of Grant and Contract Services Office of the Associate Provost for Research and Graduate Studies NAU is searching for an experienced pre-award grant administrator in the Office of Grant and Contract Services which consists of a staff of seven. The primary focus of the position is to provide grant proposal development activities in the science and engineering disciplines. The Grant Administrator reports to the Asociate Provost. The Associate Provost oversees the functions of the Office of Grant and Contract Services. The OGCS facilitates the University's involvement in projects and programs funded by sponsors outside the university. The Office provides the full range of research admninistration services for the preparation and submission of proposals, negotiation and acceptance of grants and contracts, and the administration of project funds. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Working with individual faculty and staff in the sciences, mathematics, engineering, and science/mathematics education to develop new proposals, including those involving minority student participation; 2. Assembling groups of faculty and staff to develop interdisciplinary proposals in environmental sciences, engineering and education, science/mathematics education, projects to address retention of Native American students, etc.; 3. Assisting faculty and staff with budget development and formatting of proposals to meet agency requirements and guidelines; 4. Developing contacts with major agencies such as NSF, NIH, DOE, etc.; 5. Assisting faculty in identifying funding sources including working with the NAU Foundation; and 6. Assisting the Associate Provost with consortia efforts relating to the sciences and engineering. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Experience in grant and contract administration (minimum of 5 years) with preference for experience in pre-award services for faculty in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering; 2. Bachelors degree with preference for Maters degree; 3. Familiarity with programs and processes of primary granting agencies such as NSF and NIH; 4. Experience or familiarity working on proposals for minority student participation; 5. Demonstrated ability to work independently but also to work cooperatively with other members of the office staff; and 6. Demonstrated skills in both written and verbal communication.
