Format of Public Disclosure of "Significant Financial Interest"? Doug Wilkerson, Ph.D. 11 Dec 1995 13:19 EST

Now that everyone has adopted institutional conflict-of-interest
policies which meet PHS and NSF guidelines, I wonder if anyone has given
any thought to what form public disclosure of "significant financial
interest" must take in publications and presentations. Has anyone developed
or seen prescribed or suggested wording of such disclosure that may be
required in publications or presentations. In a publication, I presume that
the disclosure would be in the form of a footnote on the first page of an
article. What would be the required/suggested format in an oral presentation,
a slide containing the disclosure?
It would seem desirable for there to be some institutional consistency
in what it requires its faculty to disclose and how it should be disclosed.
Does anyone have an example of such a disclosure statement as a part of their
policy? Has anyone seen journal articles with examples of such a disclosure?
