POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Executive Director for Research Affairs
Research Foundation of SUNY/Stony Brook

The Research Foundation of SUNY/Stony Brook administers more than
$100 million in annual expenditures derived from sponsored programs,
grants and contracts.  A candidate is sought for the position of
Executive Director for Research Affairs (EDRA), overseeing the
Offices of Research Services, Compliance & Research Informatics,
Technology Licensing & Industrial Relations, and Economic
Development.  The successful candidate should possess an earned
doctorate in physical or biomedical sciences, display an outstanding
work ethic, and take particular interest in further developing
technology transfer and industrial relations.  The EDRA will work
closely with the Center for Biotechnology, Long Island
High-technology Incubator, the Long Island Research Institute and
counterparts at Brookhaven National Laboratory and Cold Spring Harbor
Laboratory to enhance opportunities for further development of
intellectual property derivative of research-intensive faculty.  The
EDRA must be committed to the role of service to faculty, chairs and
deans in the conduct of research.  The EDRA reports directly to the
Vice-President for Research.  It is required that the successful
candidate have 5-10 years of relevant experience, half of which
administrative in an academic or industrial setting and a successful
record of generating interdisciplinary extramural support.  A
