A PI puts 5% effort on a grant application without asking for
salary support to show institutional "commitment" or for some
other reason, and the grant is awarded. Does your effort
reporting system record the 5% effort? Ours doesn't; the
reporting forms signed by each employee are generated from
the payroll system and show only the sources from which an
employee actually receives salary. Is this something to
worry about?
