Stevens Amendment (Acknowledgement of Federal Support)
Doug Wilkerson, Ph.D. 28 Nov 1995 09:39 EST
It is my understanding that the requirements of the Stevens
Amendment are still in effect, although it was scheduled to expire on
December 8, 1995. For those of you who do not remember, this attachment to
the Defense and DHHS appropriations bills requires that all press releases,
etc. concerning federal grants and contracts also report 1) the percentage of
total project costs financed with federal money, 2) the dollar amount of
federal support, and 3) the percentage and dollar amount of project
support from nongovernmental sources (e.g., institutional cost-share).
My first question is whether this requirement is still in effect.
One grants management person at HRSA told us that it is, but this requirement
appears in a random manner on recent award notices.
My second question is how do others handle this requirement? Do you
routinely report institutional cost-share information with every report of an
award that goes into PR publications, reports to Boards of Trustees, etc.?
