Subject: DIRECTOR, SPONSORED RESEARCH AND CONTRACTS

Southeastern Louisiana University is seeking candidates for the
position of Director, Sponsored Research and Contracts. Under
supervision of the Vice President for Planning, Research and
Development, the director's responsibilities include, but are not
limited to, providing university-wide leadership for all aspects of
pre-award grant activity, including disseminating grants
information, proposal development, faculty development, grants
management, and operational planning for the continuing growth
and development of a comprehensive grants operation.

Master's degree is required; doctoral degree preferred.  Five
years'leadership experience in grants and sponsored project
administration in a college or university environment is required.
The successful candidate must demonstrate the following: 1)
leadership necessary to direct a growing grants operation, 2)
knowledge necessary to stimulate faculty to seek external funding,
3) the ability to work under pressure and against short deadlines,
4) excellence in professional judgment and interpersonal skills, 5)
excellence in organizational, written and oral communication, and
analytical skills, 6) a proven record in successful grant writing, 7)
an in-depth knowledge of external funding sources, 8) a working
knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies that affect grants
acquisition and compliance, and 9) knowledge of budgeting and
budget development.

Salary competitive.  Preferred starting date February 1, 1996.
