Observation of animals abroad

I am in need of advice on how to structure a series of animal-care
protocols.
A faculty member and several students are interested in observing
primates in the wild in various Asian countries. The techniques
and procedures are fairly low-risk, being entirely observational,
but there are multiple students and multiple countries and multiple
time periods involved. I suppose each trip could call for a separate
protocol, or each country could, or the whole "internship program"
could be put into one protocol. Most but not all of the observation
work will be done in reserves and rehabilitation areas, in concert
with national or international organizations concerned with the welfare
of the primates, so government cooperation is not a big problem; but
on the other hand we don't happen to know every country's regulations.
Any advice on how to structure this, what are the most important
variables, etc., would be very helpful.
Thank you.
