UC Santa Barbara also intends to lodge a complaint with Dr. Sonja Ortega
regarding the NSF PFF deadline. She had advised us only two weeks ago
that if the competition was reinstated, as appeared likely at the time,
the deadline would be extended. We had earlier received notice of a new
brochure number that NSF intended to use for the FY96 competition,
even though they have now elected to go with the FY95 guidelines with
revised dates. Based on this, our internal deadline for candidates is only
days before the deadline!

E-mailing Dr. Ortega -- xxxxxx@nsf.gov --may be the easiest way to voice
concern for those interested.
