The Jackson Laboratory is a Mammalian Genetics/Biomedical Research
Institution located adjacent to Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine.

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

TITLE:  Grants Accountant

RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking an Accountant in our Research Financial Services department
to oversee all day-to-day accounting aspects of the Laboratory's sponsored
and internal research programs. Primary emphasis will be on post-award
administration, expense monitoring, and compliance involving both federal
and non-federal sponsoring agencies.  Position will serve as lead person to
the grants accounting support staff.  Primary responsibilities will include
account audit and review as well as various financial reporting functions
and special projects as required.  Position will manage the department
interface with the Laboratory's financial accounting system and related
subsystems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or advanced degree is required.  Applicant
must have a strong background in fund accounting with at least 5 years
experience in sponsored program accounting. Certified Research Administrator
preferred.  Familiarity with the IA FRS accounting system a major asset.

The successful applicant must possess effective interpersonal and
communication skills as well as strong computing skills, preferably in a
Windows environment.
