Here's what we've heard directly from program people at the Division of
Research Programs at NEH:
   The following programs have been suspended indefinitely -- Subventions,
Reference Materials, Basic Research (aka Collaborative), Archaeology,
Humanities Studies of Science and Technology, Conferences, Translations
(proposals submitted for the 7/1/95 deadline will probably not be reviewed),
Dissertation Grants, Summer Stipends, and Editions.  Actually, this is the
entire roster for the Division of Research at NEH.  We are waiting to hear
what they intend to do with proposals already in the pipeline (e.g.,
submissions to Collaborative/Basic last March 15).  Fellowships for University
Teachers (submitted May 1, 1995) will be reviewed for funding, but at much
lower levels.
   If anyone out there has additional news, would appreciate hearing it.  The
NEH web site has still not been updated.
