For those of you who might be wondering, I have nuked the user
that has an automatic response on email telling us all
"I am on vacation...this is a recording"--his mailer is sending
it in response to every posted message.

I have received several calls from people asking me to delete them
because they are having trouble suspending mail during their
planned vacations.  Please note, with as many error messages and the
like that I need to handle, I cannot handle routine commands for users.

The key problems in  SET NOMAIL or UNSUB are that if your address
has changed since your original subscription, the LISTSERV will not
recognize you as being authorized to mess with your subscription, because
the commands are now coming from a different address than that which
originally set up the subscription.  Also, if you have a sign-off line
in your email, this can confuse the server, which thinks it is part
of the command you are sending.  Try removing your sign off before sending
the command.

If you want to find out what address you are subscribed under,
simply send the command REVIEW RESADM-L to xxxxxx@health.state.ny.us

This will send you a listing of all non concealed subscribers (including
yourself)  The list is alphabetical by the word following the @ in your
address.If you find yourself, you can see how RESADM-L is recognizing
you.  If the address in your email "reply to" is different when you
generate email, you have a problem.

If none of this works and you are having trouble still,send me an email
with A COPY OF THE ERROR YOU ARE RECEIVING back from the LISTSERV--
I will try to diagnose your problem, but cannot be of any help without
a copy of your error!The first place you should go before me however is
your local email or systems adminstrators.  Most universities have
a LISTSERVER that uses either listserv or majordomo software, and therefore
there is undoubtedly someone on campus who might be able to figure out
your problem.
