When I worked as a Grants Manager for a small organization, I "grew" my
own Excel system.  It isn't that hard to create templates and macros in
Excel, Lotus or in Quattro Pro.  For a larger organization, nothing beats
a custom designed program.  I'm curious to know what the commercial
packages have to offer also - my initial queries have all turned up
options which are too costly for us.  I have also used Foxpro for grant
tracking and would not recommend it over a proper spreadsheet program for
grants accounting.  Foxpro was really designed to be a database, not a
spreadsheet.
