THE INSTITUTE OF FOOD AND AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES, UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA
INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THE POSITION OF ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF SPONSORED
PROGRAMS. THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR WILL REPORT DIRECTLY TO THE DIRECTOR OF
SNSORED PROGRAMS AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE: NEGOTIATION OF
RESEARCH, TRAINING, AND EXTENSION GRANTS AND CONTRACTS; 2)PROVIDING
INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE TO FACULTY ON FUNDING SOURCES, PROPOSAL
DEVELOPMENT, SUBMISSION, AND BUDGET PREPARATION; 3)WILL MAKE DECISIONS ON
THE RELEASE OF FUNDS ON AWARDS PRIOR TO RECEIVING THE AWARD NOTICE;
4)APPROVES PROPOSALS FOR SUBMISSION TO EXTRAMURAL FUNDING SOURCES; 5)
ACCEPTS GRANTS AND CONTRACTS FOR THE INSTITUTE; ESTABLISHES AND MAINTAINS
DAY TO DAY OPERATIONS FOR SPONSORED PROGRAMS; 7)DAILY INTERACTIONS WITH
SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND DEPARTMENTS SERVING AS LIAISON BETWEEN SPONSORING
AGENCIES AND VARIOUS UNIVERSITY OFFICIALS. APPLICANT SHOULD HAVE A
MASTER'S DEGREE IN AREA SUCH AS BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION OR RELATED FIELDS
AND TWO YEARS OF APPROPRIATE EXPERIENCE; OR A BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN SAME AND
FOUR YEARS OF APPROPRIATE EXPERIENCE. FIVE YEARS OF PROGRESSIVELY
RESPONSIBLE ADMINISTRATIVE WORK, TWO YEARS OF WHICH MUST HAVE BEEN IN A
SPONSORED RESEARCH ENVIRONMENT AND CONSIDERABLE KNOWLEDGE OF RESEARCH
PROPOSAL PROCEDURES AND SPONSORED RESEARCH ACTIVITIES STRONGLY PREFERRED.
STRONG NEGOTIATION SKILLS IN CONTRACTS AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. SALARY
WILL BE COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE. THE INSTITUTE IS THE STATEWIDE SYSTEM
OF AGRICULTURE AND INCLUDES THE COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE, SCHOOL OF
FORESTRY,AGRICULTURAL EXPERIMENT STATION, AND COOPERATIVE EXTENSION
