I used to use MIRS and then DataEdge for our grants database, and it worked
fairly well.  I and a grad student kept it up.  But I converted it to
FileMaker Pro on the Macintosh so the secretary who does the logging and
mailing could keep the database.

I may still have some of the manuals (this is written from home) and I have
some fuzzy memories.  I would not represent myself as an expert, but
the tone of desperation in your memo compelled me to step forward.
