Personal Messages Elizabeth A. Mazzella 19 Jun 1995 14:39 EST

We are now over 700 subscribers-- a wonderful thing, but we all need
to keep in mind who our audience is! Please do not send personal messages
to other subscribers on the list via RESADM-L! Such messages should
be directed to the email address of the particular person you are
sending the message to. By using a reply back to RESADM-L you are
sending your message to all 700+ subscribers. Only messages that
initiate or add to a conversation by the group should be addressed
to RESADM-L.I think we are in general a very tolerant group and I want
to keep it that way, but I have noticed the incidence of such
personal messages increasing over the last few months--so consider this
a friendly reminder :-)

Also, by way of "things to keep in mind"-- PLEASE use a subject heading
whenever posting to RESADM-L ( I realize some of you don't have this
capability --in your case you should put a subject right at the top
of your email document). Clear subjects allow subscribers to scan
their in boxes and elimiate mail that is not of interest before opening
it.

Also, refrain from putting the entire text of the message to which
you are responding in your reply. This causes 2 problems. 1) if the
TO and FROM from the original message get included they can cause
error messages at my end, because the server sees 2 TO:s and 2 FROMS and
warns me of a potential problem (nice server, good server)
2) it makes for incredibly lengthly email messages --

Thanks for your cooperation.
