Re: Grantsmanship Center Barbara Nichols Randall 14 Jun 1995 11:57 EST

In my former position at the New York State Library I went through their
week long training course. It was very useful to me at the time as I was
in the midst of rewriting & resubmitting an institutional grant that others
had written and had been rejected for the 2nd time by NEH. There happened
to be four others attending the training who were interested in writing
grant proposals in the same area (newspaper preservation). The proposal
our small group worked on was subsequently submitted & funded. My project
was also funded on the first submission.

The State Library has continued to serve as a host institution. This was
very convenient for all involved as it is a Foundation Center Depository.
The Grantsmanship Center trainers knew what they needed and the meetings
always happened with a minimum of chaos on the part of the staff person
who was the library contact.

If you have any specific questions e-mail me directly & I'll try to
answer them &/or find out who at NYSL is currently working in the
grants collection area.
