General Information: Mayo Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3)+
organization engaged in the private group practice of medicine, education and
research. It's research programs encompass most areas of biomedical research
with annual research expenditures of approximately $135 million. NIH funding
for 1994 was approximately $53 million.
Description of Position: Provides pre- and post-award administrative support
for all governmental and private sector grants and contracts for assigned Mayo
departments. To include negotiation, rebudgeting, revenue and expense
monitoring, research budgeting/forecasting, financial reporting and assuring
compliance with external and Mayo regulations and policy.
Provides administrative support to research programs through the coordination
of allied health employment, development, performance appraisal and salary
administration. Provides support to the institutional committees responsible
for research activities such as Research Committee, Finance, etc.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required (Masters level
preferred); five years or more experience in an academic medical center in
grant and contract administration; good understanding of NIH and working
knowledge of other federal agencies such as DOD and NSF; excellent
interpersonal skills and self motivation necessary to function effectively and
independently in the funding/deadline driven world of research administration;
strong microcomputer skills a must.
