Thank you to everyone who replied to me directly with information on IRIS.

The discussion regarding SPIN/IRIS and other databases was very informative
and timely.  In Australia there is not a national equivalent to SPIN or
IRIS.  Currently UWA maintains a localised grants/awards information
retrieval system for its academic community.

InfoEd is planning to establish an Australian version of SPIN.  This
version will be maintained by an Australian university.  We met with a
representative of this university last week to discuss some of the
potential services offered by SPIN.  The recent RESADM-L discussion has
provided additional material that has helped to balance and inform our
examination of this potential service.  Also, as a result of my posting to
RESADM-L, Aaron Trehub, Acting Director of IRIS, contacted me and organised
a free two week trial of this system for UWA.
