Indirect costs as matching funds

Bentley College allocates 10% of recovered indirect costs to an account
that was previously administered by the Office of Sponsored Programs, but is
now administered by the Provost. The account was established to support
travel for proposed project directors with good justification for meeting a
program officer to discuss a preliminary proposal or concept paper. Now, the
account is also used to support travel for project directors of awards, if
travel is required by the grant terms but is either underfunded or not funded
at all by the agency. And very recently it was used to purchase a notebook
computer for OSP and/or project directors who need to use one when off-campus
on grant-funded work.
Ten percent is also set aside for project directors to use for any scholarly
purpose (approved by the Provost) regardless of whether grant-related or not.
