Re: Membership on Graduate Faculty Paul Riofski 01 May 1995 12:13 EST

From the by-laws of our Graduate Group in Oral Biology at UCSF:

Article II. Membership

A. Membership in the Group shall be open to those persons who have
an active interest in oral biology and who are qualified to supervise
graduate students. To accept Ph.D. and/or M.S. candidates, members must
have:
 * a PhD degree or training equivalent to a Ph.D. degree in a
 discipline related to oral biology,

 * a steady record of publications in scholarly, peer-reviewed
 publications, and

 * the ability to provide a supportive research environment for
 graduate students.

B. Any member of the Group may submit to the Chair of the Executive
Committee a written nomination including the qualifications of the
nominee and a statement that the nominee has agreed to become a member if
elected. A person desiring to become a member of the Group may submit an
application to the Chair giving his/her qualifications for membership and
the names of two members of the Group who have agreed to sponsor his/her
application.

C. Nominations and applications shall be approved or disapproved by
the Executive Committee (or its appointed Membership Committee), and the
person nominated or applying shall be notified by the Executive Committee
of the decision.

D. Membership in the Group shall be reviewed annually by the
Executive Committee, at which time inactive members may be removed from
the membership list.

Hope this helps! --Paul Riofski
