Yes. At Cal State Fullerton the Senate has just passed a policy recon-
stituting our conflict of interest committee. It includes the grants director
(myself), the director of the research foundation, and a few faculty memb ers
elected by the Senate. Because NIH and NSF are rprimary concerns, there
is a requirement that some of the faculty be from the sciences.
The committee's decisions are recommendations to the VP for Academic
Affairs, who makes the final decisions. The policy provides for the
committee to keep records of its "case law" and to issue general guidelines
as patterns and problems emerge.
