An argument can be made to pay faculty in excess of their contract amount
if they are allowed to spend one day for consulting or other outside
activities.  Our faculty contracts have such a proviso.  I must state,
however, that I would not encourage this practice.  I would try to
suggest that these funds be used for salary and use transitive property
(if allowable) and take the freed up moneys for travel, grad asst.
support, etc. for the faculty who are assisting on the project.
