I am interested in hearing about examples and/or models of universities and
their affiliated organizations (hospitals, institutes, etc).
I. Sponsored Programs:
Specifically, how do these affiliated organizations relate to the sponsored
programs office of the university? Do the affiliated organizations have
their own sponsored programs office or are all the activities (e.g. reviewing
and signing grant proposals, receiving and setting up awards, negotiating
agreements, etc) handled by the central office at the university?
II. Indirect costs:
Which organization negotiates indirect cost agreements and how is indirect
cost recovered allocated among the organizations?
III. Compliance issues:
Do the affiliated organizations have their own IRBs? Do they negotiate
their own clinical study agreements?
IV. Faculty Appointments:
Do all researchers submitting grants through the university hold faculty
appointments at the university?
Any responses are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
