For those institutions where the director does not have signature
authority, I am curious to know how many proposals and awards are processed
annually.  Minnesota's numbers are staggering.  I can't imagine how much of
his time it would consume if my VP had to sign everything we processed.  I
agree that the responsibility is sometimes scary.  I take it pretty
seriously.

At Auburn we process an average of 840 proposals and 1250 awards annually.
There are numerous other documents we process that need approval but we do
not have a count for them.  Such as - financial release forms, property and
invention reports, award acknowledgements, various approval requests,
miscellaneous internal documents related to C&G accounts and requiring VP
approval, etc.
