GrantsWeb Offer Bill Kirby 27 Jan 1995 08:47 EST

During the past several weeks I've received numerous comments and
inquiries about GrantsWeb. It's clear that many people agree that the
concept of integrating grant related information on the Internet is a
useful one, and a Mosaic-type World Wide Web interface is one way to
do it. I regret NSF is not supporting it. However, because there has
been so much interest in the GrantsWeb concept, I'm making the
following offer to RESADM:

I will be happy to send a copy of the GrantsWeb HTML document that contains the
hypertext links to anyone who requests it. Please note that this is not an
official NSF document; it's my own attempt to integrate internet sources in a
useful way. I will also send periodic updates as they become available (as I
come across other useful links). With the GrantsWeb HTML document, you will have
access to the same GrantsWeb (without graphics) on your desktop without having
to access the NSF server to get it. In addition, you'll have a "template" for
adding your own links or sources, if you are so inclined. Here's how:

Send an e-mail message to me (xxxxxx@nsf.gov). The Subject of the message should
read: Request Grantsweb.

You will receive an e-mail reply that contains the GrantsWeb document. Save the
message in ASCII format , using any name and a .htm extension. (You should also
strip off the header information and instructions). You can then load the file
using the browser's "Open Local File" command on the tool bar. I have also
included some links to information about creating HTML documents that will be
useful should you decide to modify the document and add your own features.
