At Davidson College we see a range of CV's - from those that include
the parent's dob dod, religion, names/ages of children to CV's that
provide almost no information.  We have found that the best way to get
faculty to respond is to simply state agency requirements...no ifs ands or
buts.  We provide sample vitae that include major headings (address,
education, professional positions, grant history, publications, etc.)
for faculty to "fill in the blanks." Or, faculty can send me
a vitae on disk and I will edit it, and send it back to them for review.
Often, faculty just don't want to take the time to reoganize the CV and
when they see what our office can do they are delighted with the changes.
