Bill Director of the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs Central Michigan University Central Michigan University is a comprehensive university with over 16,300 undergraduate and graduate students, and over 700 faculty, located in a city of 25,000 people in the middle of Michigan. The cities of Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Saginaw are all just over an hour's drive. The Office of Research & Sponsored Programs (ORSP) is a proactive office focussing primarily on pre-award activities and supporting all aspects of proposal development from identification of funding source through transmission of final proposal. With strong support from the entire campus, including upper administration, the office has taken a leadership role in significantly increasing the number of proposals submitted and funded during the past few years. The Office of Research & Sponsored Programs works with and reports to the Assistant Vice President for Research/Dean of the College of Graduate Studies. The ORSP requires a dynamic individual who will be actively involved in all aspects of the office, including providing training for faculty/ staff, matching faculty/staff specialty areas with funding opportunities, assuming leadership for compliance issues, assisting the faculty/staff in developing competitive proposals, and handling contract negotiations. Qualifications: To be hired as the Director, an individual should have at least a master's degree and five years of relevant (grants and con- tracts) experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education. The successful candidate will have outstanding writing and interpersonal skills, experience with governmental and non-governmental funding agencies, a thorough knowledge of regulations and compliance issues, and experience collaborating with faculty and staff. Consideration will be given to hiring someone below the level of "director" if the person has the potential for making a significant contribution to the office and can be expected to later assume the responsibilities of the director. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Starting date is negotiable.
