(Thank you to those of you who expressed a willingness to host the seminar. It was greatly appreciated.) The notice below will appear in the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts in a couple of weeks. Please note, requests for registration materials should NOT be sent to me -- registration will be handled by our host institution, Beth Israel Hospital. Participation is not limited to those in the northeast region, so I hope you will consider joining us in Boston! NIH REGIONAL SEMINAR IN PROGRAM FUNDING AND GRANTS ADMINISTRATION This announcement is to give notice of the next NIH regional seminar to be offered in the summer of 1995. Beth Israel Hospital has been selected to host the NIH Northeast Regional Seminar on Program Funding and Grants Administration, which will be held at the Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts, on Monday and Tuesday, June 12-13, 1995. The seminar will last two days and will have a dual focus of interest to both academic researchers and new and senior research administrators. Discussions of current issues that affect NIH funding and grants administration will be featured to give conference participants a comprehensive view of NIH-sponsored research. As part of the seminar, a workshop on the fundamentals of NIH research administration (with an emphasis on post-award administration) will be offered; enrollment will be limited. While the seminar is designed to attract people from the northeast region, interested individuals from other regions are welcome to participate. Staff from small and minority colleges, for-profit research organizations, hospitals, universities and medical centers are encouraged to attend. Request registration materials by typing your name, title, institution, address, telephone number, and anticipated number of registrants and mailing to: Ms. Watterson-Diorio, ATTN: NIH Seminar, Beth Israel Hospital, 330 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA, 02215, or fax to 617/278-7251. Registration materials will be finalized and mailed approximately three months prior to the seminar. Dates: Monday and Tuesday, June 12-13, 1995 Location: Copley Plaza Hotel 138 St. James Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts 02116 617/267-5300 (request in-house reservations when calling) A block of rooms has been reserved for seminar participants at the Copley Plaza Hotel at a rate of $155 per night, single or double occupancy. Participants need to make hotel reservations directly and should reference the NIH Regional Seminar when you call. Reservations must be made by May 11, 1995, in order to receive the negotiated conference room rate. Registration Fee: $150 The registration fee will cover continental breakfast and lunch on Monday and Tuesday, a reception on Monday evening, and all seminar materials. FUTURE SEMINARS Two NIH regional seminars are offered each year in different regions of the country. At this time, the dates and locations of future seminars have not yet been finalized, although it is likely that the next two seminars following Boston will be offered in the west/northwest and south.
