I should add two more points. One, the NBS exists in the
sense that it was formed by an executive order of the
president and has a bureaucratic framework with director
(Ron Pullium), etc. Second, because of property rights
issues and a promise to shrink government, it is also
mentioned as a "Contract with America" item for
reduction.
Of course, the opinions expressed herein are my own, and do

Has anyone dealt with or heard anything about the National Biologic
Survey (NBS), an apparently new federal agency set up to "coordinate"
non-NIH and non-NSF biologic research?
We have a subcontract on a Department of Interior contract and I
have
been told that NBS is now the agency controlling the purse strings.
