        Interim Vice President for Research (He has held this position for
        1 1/2 years.  Will probably become the VPR soon.  We had a president
        resign & just got a new one (David Boren), which has slowed the process)
        Dr. Smith has a PhD in Chemistry.  (He is also the Dean of the Graduate
        College.)
