Here at Cedars-Sinai, a private, non-profit Med. Center, our Indirect Cost
Rate Agreement excludes "hospitalization and other fees related to patient
care" from the direct cost base on which IDC is applied.  I imagine many
of you have the same clause....

Defining patient care costs has been an ongoing debate here-- in a typical
clinical trial virtually every charge is "related to patient care" (we apply
the federally defined base to our corporate trials).

What do you consider patient care costs: Room charges, lab tests, phlebotomy,
nurse time, physician time?
