The Office of Grants and Sponsored Research at the University of Southern
Indiana reports to the Office of Graduate Studies, which reports to the
VPAA.  Currently, however, I am head of both Sponsored Research and
Graduate Studies, so I report directly to VPAA.  At a primarily teaching
institution like USI, there are advantages to Sponsored Research being
connected with Graduate Studies, especially since both report directly to
VPAA.  The faculty find it more convenient and comprehensible to have
related purposes and missions in related offices.
