At Armstrong State College my position, (Grants Coordinator - a one-person
grants office), reports to the Assistant to the VP who in turn reports to the
VP and Dean of Faculty (one person, two hats.)  My position is seen as very
firmly centered under the Dean of Faculty part of the VP's responsibilities.
I sincerely try to work with our Advancement office however, and this is an
observation after less than one year on the job, the problems created by our
differing perspectives are ENORMOUS!  I cannot imagine the difficulty of trying
to reconcile those different goals within one office -- it's hard enough as it
is!
