At Middlebury College my position (Coordinator of Sponsored Reseach) reports
to the Director of Grants who reports to the VP for External Affairs BUT (this
is a big BUT) -- I meet as needed with the Dean of Academic Planning and the
Director of Grants meets with the Dean of Faculty and all grant seeking is
coordinated with the academic administration.  Our "authorized institutional
official" for signing grants is the Comptroller/Asst. Treasurer.
