In all of the positions I have held at Michigan, Texas and now here in
Maryland I have always reported to the academic side of the institution
reporting to Associate Dean for Research, Dean of School of Public Health,
Vice President for Academic Affairs at UTMedical Branch in Galveston and to
the Vice President for Research and Dean of the Graduate School here in
Maryland.  I believe from the faculty member's perspective and benefit it is
better for this office to report to the academic side of the institution.
