At the Medical College of Ohio, 10% of IDC is returned to the department
in which the principal investigator has his or her primary appointment. In
addition, 25% of faculty salaries and fringe benefits charged to sponsored
program accounts are returned to the department of the faculty member whose
salary is so charged. These research incentive payments are made on a
quarterly basis during the fiscal year AFTER the actual IDC collection or
salary charge (i.e., a year behind). The only restriction on the use of these
research incentive funds is that they be utilized to "support research or
improve the research environment".
